Loaves and Fishes
This program originated in New Milford in the early 1980s. It sprang from an idea and the work of several local church people including the New Milford United Methodist Church and Biddy Rogers, a member of St John’s Episcopal Church. Originally housed at St. John’s Episcopal Church and currently at the Richmond Center the program provides meals to everyone who comes. It is open daily from 4:30-5:30 PM.
NMUMC is responsible for the meal on the third Friday of each month. Three or four volunteers are needed to prepare food and serve about 20-30 people at the Center. Volunteers are also needed to provide bag lunches for 20-30 people on assigned days during the month.
How can I be involved?
•Go to the Center on the third Friday of the month to prepare and serve meals to clients
•Provide a dish to be served for the third Friday meal
•Prepare bag lunches and deliver to Center on third Friday of the month.
Note: These volunteer activities may also be scheduled for other days if it better meets your schedule.
