Traditional Service

Sundays at 9:00 in the Sanctuary

This service is the backbone of our church and sees a large attendance.  It is traditional in that this service is dedicated to the praising of the Lord through conventional,  "mainstream" approaches that are frequently associated with worship.  The service consists of several sung hymns (usually three), three lectionary readings, an anthem by our Chancel Choir, a Children's Sermon, several responsive readings, a moment of silent meditation, a collect (a group prayer read together), and a Message delivered by Rev. Bennett.  Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month.

During July and August, our worship schedule changes and we celebrate a traditional service in our Chapel in the Pines at 10:00 am.  At 8:30 am we offer a traditional service in our Sanctuary and serve Communion every week.

Sanctuary Cross
It is our belief that the traditions of United Methodism are instrumental in the worship experience.  Our sanctuary offers a place of quiet reflection and serendipity.

This service is also characterized by its usage of organ and piano music and lighted candles on our altar.  The sanctuary, with its lightly colored wooden pews and vestments and dark blue carpeting, has a very warm and friendly feel to it.

At the core of worship in our sanctuary is the usage of the Bible and the United Methodist Hymnal.

This is a family service in that children over the age of 4 remain in the sanctuary.  Sunday School is held at 10:15 am for all ages; preschool through adults.   We believe that the worship environment and Sunday School are instrumental in their interaction with each other, and that this interaction provides a solid basis for the raising of children in Christian education.
